We have an exciting opportunity for a dotnet programmer to undertake work to further develop an existing solution that we provide as part of the Clinical Informatics Research Unit.

The candidate must have an excellent knowledge of C #, .NET Core, SQL and JavaScript / ES6. Experience with front-end frameworks such as Aurelia, Ember or Angular would be extremely beneficial for the position, as would exposure to modern tools such as Webpack, Linux and Docker. The candidate should be an experienced programmer with proven skills in the design, development and delivery of websites in a variety of systems. Other skills that would be of benefit include CI / CD, source control, and general programming theory.

The primary function of this role is to work with an existing team of programmers and testers to further develop EDGE, a leading clinical trial management system. The system is well established in the UK and overseas and we have plenty of opportunities to improve and integrate the software in a variety of other areas.

The position is based in the Clinical Informatics Research Unit (CIRU) of the University of Southampton at the Southampton University Hospitals NHS Trust. The unit is an integral part of the Faculty of Medicine and the CRUK Clinical Center. We have been working remotely for the past eighteen months and we hope this will continue as the predominant model, supplemented by face-to-face meetings as needed.

There are also opportunities to work on other software projects in medicine as well as in the development of supporting tools and frameworks.

The candidate must be able to demonstrate a genuine interest in programming and web development. They also need to show initiative and creativity which can bring new ideas and approaches to our software.

The position is available on a permanent full-time basis.

The salary for this position includes a market supplement.
