ESPN networks dedicate nearly 20 hours of live studio coverage to college football qualifying selection day

ESPN networks will devote nearly 20 hours of live studio coverage to College Football Qualifier Selection Day, including the exclusive reveal of which teams will be part of the 2021 College Football Playoffs during the season. College Football Qualifying Selection Show Presented by AT&T 5G at noon ET on Sunday, December 5.

Over the course of the four-hour show, all four of the college football playoff teams, CFP committee final standings and all New Years Six clashes will be revealed. On ESPN, ESPN2, ESPNU, SEC Network, ACC Network, ESPN.com, the ESPN app and Twitter, full analysis, feedback and reports will come from the ESPN studio lineup.

College Football Qualifying Selection Show Strong points:

  • College football playoff teams revealed at 12:15 p.m. New Year’s matches at 2:30 p.m.
  • Rece Davis welcomes for the eighth consecutive year
  • Kirk herbstreit, Joey galloway, Jesse palmer and David Pollack join Davis on the main set
  • Several personalities join the show, including Chris fowler, Booger McFarland, Greg McElroy, Robert griffin iii, and Paul finebaum. Coaches and other guests are also expected.
  • CFP insider Heather dinich will be live from the CFP committee headquarters at the Gaylord Texan Hotel, and ESPN will have reporters at team sites across the country, including:

Post-selection reaction on ESPN
From 4 p.m. to 7 p.m., Championship Drive: Reaction to the rankings presented by Capital One will continue the discussion on the college football playoffs, New Years Six and the bowl photo set. Matt barrie hosts with Tom luginbill, Rod Gilmore and McElroy.

In prime time, the two-and-a-half-hour special Championship Drive: Bowl Breakdown presented by Capital One (8:30 p.m. – 11 p.m.) will feature the host Joe tessitor joined by analysts McElroy, Griffin, Dusty dvoracek and Todd McShay.

Wake up on Sunday morning for the CFP analysis on Sports center and Championship driving
A three o’clock Championship Drive: Rankings Countdown presented by AT&T 5G Airs at 9 a.m. on ESPN2 and ESPNU with McFarland, Galloway, Palmer and Fowler joining the host Kevin negandhi. Nicole briscoe and Randy Scott will host the 7 a.m. Sports center on ESPN and will be joined by college football analysts, including insider CFP Dinich. Both shows will screen what will happen later today, with interviews and news from various journalists across the country.

ESPN’s cross-platform selection day coverage includes:

  • Sunday NFL Countdown: College football analysts Herbstreit, Pollack and Galloway are expected to join the network’s popular NFL pre-game show (9 a.m. to noon, ESPN) to talk about the next CFP reveal.
  • Ranking Reaction presented by Cheez-It: Hosts Jason fitz, Christine williamson, and Mike Golic, Jr. will break down the final standings with an array of guests at 1pm. The hour-long digital show will be broadcast live on ESPN’s YouTube channel, Twitter feed and Facebook page, as well as on the ESPN app.
  • College networks: The SEC Network and ACC Network will both offer bowl specials on Sundays, starting at 6 p.m. and 8 p.m., respectively, while previewing their conference playoffs.
  • ESPN.com: Comprehensive news and analysis throughout Selection Day, breaking down playoff pitch and bowl games, including:
    • Dinich to report on CFP committee headquarters in Grapevine, TX
    • Andrea Adelson will be on hand with Cincinnati as the Bearcats look to make history as the first Group-5 team to advance to the playoffs
