The Fugaku supercomputer remains one of the most powerful supercomputers in the world in the four major high-performance computer ranking systems, including the TOP500, HPL-AI, Graph 500 and HPCG.
The Fugaku supercomputer is a joint development of Fujitsu and RIKEN and spans 158,976 nodes in 432 racks.
RIKEN R-CCS Director Satoshi Matsuoka says Fugaku represents the most advanced computing in the world.
Fujitsu Managing Director Naoki Shinjo comments: “We are delighted to have been able to successfully take the top spot in the major benchmarks for the third consecutive term. We owe this success to our close collaboration with RIKEN to improve application performance, which has led to the achievement of this very balanced performance.
HPL-AI, which ranks supercomputers based on their performance on the single and half-precision computing typically used in artificial intelligence applications, rated Fugaku at 2.004 exaflops.
The Graph 500 ranks systems based on graphical analysis performance and found that the top ranking was a collaboration involving RIKEN, Kyushu University, Fixstars Corporation, and Fujitsu. It got a score of 102,955 gigaTEPS.
In the Top500, Fugaku achieved a LINPACK score of 442.01 petaflops. On HPCG he obtained a score of 16.00 petaflops and on HPL-AI he obtained a score of 2.004 exaflops.
Naoji Shinjo explains that Fugaku started offering shared use in March, which drew many researchers and organizations to its computing capabilities.
In addition, Fujitsu will also leverage Fugaki through a joint research partnership with the Research Center for Advanced Science and Technology. This partnership focuses on research to support the development of drugs to fight COVID-19.
Satoshi Matsuoka said, “In addition to surpassing key simulations, big data and AI benchmarks for the third consecutive term, he also made a major contribution to establishing COVID-19 security guidelines for the government. and the private sector, and has helped drive a digital transformation in infectious diseases. With this continued domination, we have shown that Fugaku is the world leader in many areas. “
Naoki Shinjo adds that Fugaku will also play an important role in the development of ‘Society 5.0’ of Japan.
“We would like to once again express our sincere gratitude to RIKEN and others for their great cooperation and support. “
