Premier League final season supercomputer reveals Aston Villa was the biggest outperformer as Wolves and Sheff Utd flopped

ASTON VILLA has been the biggest outperformer this season, according to a Premier League supercomputer.

But Wolves and the relegation of Sheffield United were the campaign’s biggest disappointments.

The 2020-21 season threw some surprises at both ends of the table

Dean Smith’s side avoided relegation by the skin of their teeth on the last day of last season but has turned this campaign.

But the Blades were a revelation in 2019-20 before surrendering this season and advancing to the championship.

After Villa, West Ham and Newcastle were the other biggest outperformers.

Both sides finished five positions higher than what Bettingexperts’ supercomputer predicted at the start of the campaign.

Villa finished 11th – seven places higher than expected, while Midlands rival Wolves – who parted ways with manager Nuno Espirito Santo – came in 13th, five short of expected eighth.

The Hammers, sixth, qualified for the Europa League in their best Prem result since 1998.

But at the other end of the board, it was a dark campaign for the Blades who finished lower – six spots down than expected 14th.

The promoted Leeds were up three places ahead of their planned 12th place.

North London rivals Tottenham and Arsenal have also lost two.

After a promising start to the season, Southampton ended with a whimper and finished 15th after being supposed to finish tenth.

Brighton were also down on their pre-season expectations with the Seagulls finishing 16th after their final day loss to Arsenal.
