Data analytics firm FiveThirtyEight has claimed that Arsenal are currently favorites to finish fourth ahead of Tottenham Hotspur, Manchester United and West Ham.
Tottenham’s 3-2 loss at home to Southampton was a blow to the club’s hopes of qualifying for the Champions League.
However, Spurs are still fairly well placed in the race, just four points behind West Ham in fourth place with three games less on the Hammers.
Antonio Conte’s men had to watch Arsenal capitalize on their mistake this week, with the Gunners recording a 1-0 victory over Wolves on Thursday.
After this week’s results, FiveThirtyEight predicts that Arsenal will finish in fourth place with 66 points and Spurs will finish fifth with 62.
According to their calculations, Mikel Arteta’s men have a 46% chance of qualifying for the Champions League, while Spurs only have a 24% chance of doing so.
Manchester United and West Ham have an 18% and 10% chance of making the top four respectively.

These types of calculations are always wrong because there are simply too many different variables to consider.
Despite our defeat on Wednesday, I think we have the best chance of finishing fourth out of the four clubs in the race.
I don’t know how Arsenal received a 46% chance given their side’s lack of goals when Aubameyang left.
