Genre shows and movies, animated shows from Bento Box Entertainment, and documentary rates are part of Tubi’s initial 140 hours of programming.
Tubi, the free video streaming service owned by Fox Corp., plans to launch a full range of original programming in the fall, including content developed by Fox Entertainment.
The streaming service plans to unveil its plans and pitch its pitch to advertisers during its New Fronts presentation next week.
For its initial list of over 140 hours of content, Tubi will focus on originals in some of its most popular genres, what the company calls “pockets of passion”. Among the launch list will be an animated lineup from Fox’s Bento Box Entertainment (Bob’s Burgers), as well as original documentaries from Fox Alternative Entertainment. Other genres will include sci-fi, romance, thrillers, cinema noir, with Tubi CEO Farhad Massoudi saying the company has developed a “content intelligence” engine to help decide which genres to explore. .
Tubi currently has over 30,000 movies and TV shows and over 40 million active users.
“Tubi has the unique ability to understand his audience, his interests, his curiosities and his obsessions which we call ‘pockets of passion’. It could be anything the audience needs, from romantic comedies to black cinema, female-led dramas to cartoons, ’80s action movies and more, ”said Charlie Collier, CEO of Fox. Entertainment. “That’s why Fox and Tubi are important to you together. We’re just building a new and better way to maximize ad investment. Our future is together. “
Fox acquired Tubi just over a year ago for $ 440 million, using the proceeds from its Roku stake. In March, Fox’s CFO said Tubi’s advertising revenue would eclipse $ 300 million this year and that over time he is expected to pass the Fox broadcast network in terms of ad revenue.
